Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Mining Disaster, 2nd of March 1860

The Burradon & Camperdown Forum, Burradon Community Primary School and the Church Of The Good Shepherd are working together to commemorate the mining disaster at Burradon Colliery and also celebrate the village’s mining heritage.
As part of the commemoration, Burradon Primary School is making a DVD of people’s memories of the village’s mining past and its future.
The school invites residents to contribute to the project and in particular contributions from former miners, wives and children of former miners, Bevin boys, descendants from victims of the disaster or anyone with an interesting story of village life.
Anyone wishing to be involved in the project is requested to contact Ms Hunter, head of Burradon Primary School-0191 200 8345, or email the Forum at the address below.
