BURRADON & CAMPERDOWN COMMUNITY AGREEMENT

2006 Sep 27 - A landmark community agreement was recently signed by John Harrison, Mayor of North Tyneside, Inspector Geoff Cross Northumbria Police, Jonquil Hood of Places for People and Keith Burrage, tenants representative and the Burradon & Camperdown Forum.

The community agreement is the most comprehensive in North Tyneside and the first to include a housing association. The purpose of the agreement is to protect and consolidate the village’s progress during the previous 10 years and imposes specific responsibilities on the signatories. The agreement provides a framework for all parties working in partnership to improve the quality and delivery of services to the local community.

The residents have a crucial role with the implementation of the terms of the agreement and to quantify the standard of any future improvement in the level of services in the village. It is important that residents familiarise themselves with the agreement and report any problems or improvement of services.

John Harrison, Mayor of North Tyneside stated: “ We are delighted to sign up to the agreement which sets out resident’s rights and responsibilities. It is a contract which we can develop stronger ties and strengthen our accountability to local people.”
