Injunction Obtained against Anti-social Resident
2007 Jan 08
Places for People has successfully obtained an injunction from Newcastle Court to control the behaviour of Mark Wilson who resides on the Kirkwood Estate.
The granting of the injunction is a further example of the Courts supporting the efforts of Places for People and North Tyneside Council to eradicate the small problem of anti-social behaviour which exists within our community. Places for People and North Tyneside Council in conjunction with Northumbria Police have also obtained numerous ABA's and ASBO's against people residing in the village.
Places for People and North Tyneside Council's Safer Estates team had a remarkably successful 2006 with the eviction of a number of tenants for criminal and anti-social behaviour. Furthermore, as a consequence of the evictions a number of tenants voluntarily surrendered possession of properties due to the prospect of imminent proceedings.
Places for People and North Tyneside Council have demonstrated their unequivocal support to the residents and their determination to create a safe community for people to live in peace. However, residents are urged to report any criminal or anti-social behaviour to ensure that Places for People, North Tyneside Council and Northumbria Police have sufficient evidence to secure future evictions and convictions of offenders. Residents are guaranteed confidentiality.
We hope that the local community will agree that the level of anti-social and criminal behaviour has reduced significantly during the previous 3 years which is a testimony to the effort and commitment of Northumbria Police, Places for People and North Tyneside Council.
