A special week of activities was arranged for the children of the village during the half-term holiday. Colin McElligott, Sports Development Officer, Burradon Recreation Centre has called upon the services of Wayne Dobson, Urban Active to organise a camp with a variety of activities for the children.

The sessions were fun and energetic and the purpose of the project was to encourage children to participate in events and to enjoy sport activities to develop new skills and improve fitness and general health.

There was a wide selection of activities during the 3 days ranging from street games that people over 30 years of age played as children and a new version of kick the can proved to be the most popular.

The children also played end ball, Swedish long ball, ultimate frisbee, kwik cricket, tri-golf, dodge ball, xtreme air wars (safe paint ball which fired foam bullets) and air rifle shooting.

Mr C McElligott and The Burradon and Camperdown Forum contributed the funds to fund the event.

We wish to pass on our appreciation to Colin for organising the activities and he has once again demonstrated his true value to the community and the well being of our children by providing opportunities they may never otherwise experienced.
