The Video section of the website has now been updated. The videos are now embeded into the page rather than having to download them, which I realised may have been off-putting to some, having security warnings pop-up. Give them another try! There is also a link to our own YouTube channel which includes a playlist of other videos relating to Burradon and mining, including 1974 Backworth colliery locos and mining underground in the 70s.

Greg Gregory writes:
I am a keen amateur Scout archivist and I have been trying to research the history of a young Scout (F.R. Dodd) who was awarded a Scout bravery award in 1934 (14.03.34) and I would love to talk to any of his descendants or to anyone who recalls him. He would have attended the 1stBurradon Scout Group which was connected with the Church of the Good Shepherd. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. Regards, Greg

2008 Mar 25  - Drop in Morning on 15 March 2008. The coffee morning organised by the parishioners at the Church of the Good Shepherd and held on Saturday 15 March 2008 at Kirkdale Court. There were tombola stalls, cake stalls and raffles to raise funds for the Church. Tea and cakes were extremely popular and the event was well attended by the local community and everyone appeared to have a really enjoyable morning. Rev Angela Maughan was overwhelmed with the attendance and a grand sum of £420 was raised which will provide vital funds for the Church of the Good Shepherd. See Recent Gallery for photos of the event...
