The Chairman opened the meeting at 7.10pm

The minutes of the meeting held on 5th February 2008 were approved.

Mr P Gallagher:

8 voids in previous 12 months

1 eviction and 2 abandonment’s in period

100 people on waiting list

Few reports of anti-social behaviour

Wellbeing Centre a success

External lighting installed to improve security

Mr B Price:

28 Allocations from 4 April 2007 to date, predominantly 2 bed properties.

Capital Investment in 4 years replaced kitchens, bathrooms, windows and boilers

Properties in Means Drive and Means Court to be upgraded during forthcoming financial year.

5 ABA’s signed in last 12 months

Mrs Coates: 78 year old resident’s property is being vandalised.

Mr Wray: Police investigating.

Mrs Hayes: Old people’s properties have been burgled and the elderly in the village are afraid. The windows in the bungalows have no locks.

Mr Price: The window supplier has been changed and the matter will be referred to John Norton.

Mr Wray: NTC and PFP need to ensure that residents maintain their gardens to a decent standard.

Mr Price: A recent estate inspection identified offending properties and a new programme will be implemented in May 2008 to target offenders.

Mr O’Connor: Replaced John Meldrum and aware of the village’s previous problems.

Area is remarkably quiet at present.

Mrs D Brain: Tenant Involvement Manager and role is to co-ordinate officers in area to consult tenants.

Better Homes Exhibition on 1 April 2008 at Oxford Centre which will display range of bathrooms, Kitchens and fires and officers will be in attendance to discuss residents requirements.

Mr Burrage: Housing in the village has improved significantly in last 5 years.

Mr Wharrier: Places for People want to engage with local community and persuade residents that Kirkdale Court is for everyone living in the village. A questionnaire is to be devised and distributed to obtain residents views on issues including health, social services etc at the Wellbeing Centre.

Sgt J Smith: The team has been restructured and comprises 6 PC’s, 6 PCSO’s, 2 Seargents and 1 Inspector.

Damian will remain village PC and the team is determined to reduce crime to improve people’s quality of life.

Mr D Toon: Is parking on the path an offence?

Sgt Smith: It is an offence and should be reported.

Mr Wray: Provided update regarding the former primary school site.

Informed attendees of Mr Singh’s plans to demolish Grey Horse and build 12 Flats.

Resolution: “Approved the proposal in principle,however, subject to viewing final plans.”

Informed of Pizza Plaice proposal to open entrance onto Front Street and whether in view of Mr Singh’s refusal, we should object.

Resolution: “ Object to the proposed opening of entrance which creates identical problems highlighted by the Planning Inspectorate.”

Places for People organised Drop in Morning on 15 March and a 50 Plus event on 22 April 2008.

Places for People are applying for funding to the Mayor’s Wellbeing Fund for a support officer to be based at Kirkdale Court to develop services in the area.

Resolution: “ We support the idea of a support officer to be based at Kirkdale Court.”

2008 at Kirkdale Court, regarding the presentation on 1 February 2008 and the members of the Forum are invited. There will be a buffet.
